Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how CrochetMetrics.com (“CrochetMetrics”, “we”, “us”) processes personal data when you visit the website and use its crochet calculators, pattern translator, yarn database and stitch dictionary.
Data controller: crochetmetrics, —. For any privacy question or request, write to info@crochetmetrics.com or use our contact form.
2. Personal data we process
- Server logs. When you load a page, our hosting server records your IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, referring URL, date and time. We use these logs only to run and protect the website (for example, to block abuse) and they are deleted automatically within 30 days, unless they are needed to investigate a security incident.
- Contact form and email. If you write to us, we process your name, email address and the content of your message to answer you. Messages are not stored in our website database; they are delivered to our mailbox and deleted no later than 12 months after the conversation ends, unless we must keep them for legal reasons.
- Calculators and translator. Our tools run in your browser. The patterns you paste and the measurements you enter are not sent to our servers. To spare you retyping, some tools save your last inputs in your browser’s local storage, on your own device, where you can delete them at any time.
- Yarn search. The live yarn search sends the text you type to our server to find matching yarns. We do not store these queries linked to you.
- Cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.
3. Advertising: Google AdSense
We display ads served by Google AdSense to fund the free tools. For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland the provider is Google Ireland Limited; elsewhere it is Google LLC.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies (including the cookie historically known as the DoubleClick DART cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices or, in Europe, at www.youronlinechoices.eu.
- Ads on this website are served by Google (Google advertising policies) and the certified ad technology providers that Google works with. You can visit those websites to opt out of the use of cookies for personalized advertising where they offer that option.
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, advertising cookies for personalized ads are only used if you consent through our cookie banner. If you refuse, Google may still show non-personalized or limited ads, which use cookies or local storage only for purposes such as frequency capping, aggregated reporting and fraud prevention. More information: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
4. Affiliate links
Some links to Amazon (Amazon.com, Amazon.es, Amazon.de, Amazon.fr and Amazon.com.br), Hobbii and Shopee are affiliate links. When you click one, you leave our website and the store may set its own cookies to attribute your purchase to us. We do not receive your personal data from these stores, only aggregated commission reports. Their own privacy policies apply on their websites.
5. Legal bases (GDPR)
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) for analytics and advertising cookies and for answering messages sent through the contact form. You can withdraw it at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) for server logs, security, fraud prevention and replying to emails you send us.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR) where we must keep or disclose data by law.
6. Recipients and international transfers
Your data is processed by our hosting and email providers, acting as processors on our behalf under data processing agreements, and by Google as an independent controller for its advertising services. Where data is transferred outside the EEA, the transfer is based on an adequacy decision (such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework for certified companies) or on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws you have the right to:
- access your personal data and receive a copy;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict or object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example by reopening the cookie settings.
To exercise these rights, write to info@crochetmetrics.com. We will answer within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of your country of residence.
8. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
In the last 12 months we have collected identifiers (IP address, cookie and device identifiers) and internet activity information (pages visited, interactions with ads), from your browser and from our advertising partner, for the purposes described above.
We do not sell personal information for money. Allowing advertising cookies for personalized ads may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out at any time by choosing “Only necessary” in the cookie settings. We also treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a valid request to opt out of personalized advertising.
You have the right to know, delete and correct your personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. Send requests to info@crochetmetrics.com.
9. Children
Our website is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
The website is served exclusively over HTTPS, access to the administration area is restricted, and our providers apply technical and organisational security measures. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services or the law change. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.
