How this generator calculates the pattern
Classic written patterns are tied to the designer’s yarn and tension. If your gauge is different, the blanket comes out too small or the basket floppy. These generators start from your real 10 × 10 cm swatch, round the foundation chain to the stitch multiple each pattern needs and then work out the rows for your exact size.
The yarn estimate uses the same calibrated model as our yarn calculator, with the yarn-consumption factor of each stitch from our stitch database and a 10 % safety margin, so you can buy the right number of balls before you start.

What is a custom-gauge crochet pattern?
It is a pattern that is recalculated from your own gauge instead of the designer’s. You enter the number of stitches and rows in 10 cm, and the generator adjusts the foundation chain, the number of rows and the yarn amount so the finished piece matches the size you chose.
